Simulation Mode
You can configure the Printer Interface module to simulate printing even when the printer is turned off or disconnected. Simulation mode is useful for training, demonstrations or problem-solving.
In simulation mode, you can specify the types of media “detected” in the printer and you can display any printer errors that can be viewed on-screen. When you send a job to the Queue, the Printer Interface simulates its passage through the printer.
If you configure the simulation options to use an external TIFF viewer, each sheet is printed to display exactly as it will be printed.
- From the Printer Interface main menu choose Setup > Simulation/Demo
- Configure options as desired.
When printing to display you must specify a TIFF viewer. There are several options:
- Windows XP - Select "PlotWorks Image Viewer" or "Wang/Kodak Imaging" from the list of viewers. If you select "Wang/Kodak Imaging" the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer will be launched when each sheet is printed.
- Windows Vista or Windows 7 - Select "PlotWorks Image Viewer" from the list of viewers. The "Wang/Kodak Imaging" option is non-functional with these operating systems.
- Browse to any compatible (and fast) TIFF viewer installed on your system. For example, IrfanView (freeware, but only for private, non-commercial use) is a popular TIFF viewer that performs reasonably well with 400dpi and 600dpi monochrome TIFF images.
