To ensure reliable error recovery after media jams and changes (roll-out events, roll-over events), the Spool Printing option on the printer's embedded controller must be enabled. When enabled, PlotWorks will be able to recover from the event, clear the printer's internal queue, and resume the job at the correct position.
The PlotWorks CD-ROM that was shipped with your printer may not be the most recent version of the software. After installing from the CD-ROM, please download and apply this update. The updater may be used to update both PlotWorks Server and PlotWorks Client.
An installation guide is included in the box containing the CD-ROM and hardware license key. This guide, also available in PDF format, provides step-by-step instructions for installation, configuration and initial use.
You may download a set of sample images for training and demonstration purposes. The samples are organized by file format.
PlotWorks provides robust and configurable media selection logic. For example, in an attended environment such as a central print room, you probably want a 36" x 24" sheet to always print on a 36" roll, and to prompt you to add media if a 36" roll is not currently loaded. On the other hand, in an unattended enviroment, you might prefer that this sheet print on another roll size if a 36" roll is not currently loaded in the printer. These behaviors are configured in the Printer Interface module under Media Inventory.
By default, jobs submitted to the printer will exit from the top/front, collated as intended. If you wish to select the alternate (rear) exit path when submitting a job, enable the "Reverse standard print order" option in the Output Job dialog.
You can configure the Printer Interface module to simulate printing even when the printer is turned off or disconnected. Simulation mode is useful for training, demonstrations or problem-solving.
The performance (speed) of your PlotWorks software depends on a number of factors. Many of these factors are, for the most part, within your control at time of installation.
While virus scanning software, firewalls and threat protection packages can prevent various forms of attack, it is important to understand that these protection mechanisms can also prevent your PlotWorks system from operating properly.
The resampling feature is applicable to monochrome (black and white) TIFF images when printing or converting (Output to File) at scale factors other than 100 percent. Resampling while scaling has a dramatic and favorable impact on image quality. Halftones are preserved, as are small details and text.
